by Donnie Finnell
Nine new tunes of classic vocal jazz – some with a quintet, some with a brass section and some with strings – all performed by veteran jazz singer Donnie Finnell. Born in Chicago, raised in Nashville, honed in New York City, Donnie, now of San Diego, is a longtime friend and musical associate of Gary Wilson, who contributed the album’s liner notes. The songs, from the bittersweet “Bistro Rien” to the lusty, Latin “Air Leona” – all written and produced by Lance Duncan and Vinnie D’Angelo – are the stories of Donnie’s life, in the performance of his life.
